5 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Volcanoes Hike

Rwanda is popularly known as the land of a thousand hills, it has a general high altitude the highest being mountain Karisimbi at 4507m ( 14787 ft) in the Park National Des Volcans.

Rwanda is the fourth smallest country on the African continent comparable to Haiti, and Albania, Rwanda has a rich biodiversity ranging from acacia dominated savannah ecosystem in the Akagera region to the pre historic Montane forest vegetation, she is habitat to one third of the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas and rare primates ranging from chimpanzees to monkeys.

Rwanda also has over 670 bird species and of course a precarious geo political history of the 1994 genocide, a visit to the genocide memorial center is an indispensible pre requisite for any traveller to appreciate Rwanda.

The 5 days Rwanda Gorilla and Volcanoes Hike takes you to volcanoes national park where you can experience gorilla trekking in the mist.

Day1: Kigali-Volcanoes National Park
Have your breakfast and after meet our driver/guide and then transfer to Volcanoes national park and on your way visit to some of Rwanda genocide memorials and then have your en-route lunch, after transfer to your lodge Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Lebombou Lodge/Lapalme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House for check in. Dinner and overnight, Meal plan: H/B

Day2: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking-visit Twin Lakes.
Have your breakfast, thereafter embark the safari jeep and transfer to the volcanoes national park for briefing about the mountain gorillas and the park as well. After enter into the forest to look for the mountain gorillas, other primates and birds are viewed and when you meet the mountain gorillas take the unforgettable photographs, videos and then have your packed lunch, then return to the park offices for your Rwanda gorilla trekking certificate and then and after visit the twin lakes which offer the bird watching experience and then return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Day3 and Day4: Hike Mount Karisimbi
Have breakfast and after hike Mount Karisimbi which is an inactive volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At 4,507 meters (14,787 ft.), Karisimbi is the highest of the eight major mountains of the mountain range, which is a part of Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Karisimbi is flanked by Mikeno to the north, Bisoke to the east and Nyiragongo to the west, on the other side of the Rift Valley. Karisimbi is the 11th highest mountain of Africa.

Day5: Volcanoes-Kigali
Have breakfast and thereafter take traditional boat and visit the local fishing villages and this experience with the local communities return to lodge for lunch, drive back to Kigali airport for your return flight.
