The 7 days Rwanda safari takes you through gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park. This special package also covers visit to genocide memorial sites, Dian Fossey tomb site to mention but a few. Volcanoes National Park is located in northwestern Rwanda and inhabits a section of mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, over 200 bird species and variety of plant species. Ten gorilla families are available for gorilla trekking and only one will be assigned to you to track in a group of eight visitors. Nyungwe National Park is set in southwestern Rwanda and it is a home to 13 primates, 310 birds and others. Your 7 day Rwanda safari begins and ends in Kigali.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali

Arrive at Kigali International Airport early enough and meet our driver guide. He will brief you on what your 7 days Rwanda safari. Later, head off to northwest to Volcanoes National Park. Dine and spend a night at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Bisate Lodge (Luxury), Da Vinci Lodge (Midrange) or Hotel Muhabura (Budget).

 

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Have breakfast early in the morning and after, gather at Kinigi park headquarters with your packed lunch and water. You will be briefed on the set safety measures for gorilla trekking and also be assigned to one gorilla family to track in a group of eight visitors. After, embark on actual gorilla trek with park ranger guide and this may take you about 2-5 hours and this also covers the 1 hour of magical encounter. After, return to the lodge to enjoy your lunch and have a rest then in the evening, you have enjoyable cultural experience with Banyarwanda Intore Dancers. Dine and spend a night at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Bisate Lodge (Luxury), Da Vinci Lodge (Midrange) or Hotel Muhabura (Budget).

Day 3: Hike to Dian Fossey tomb site

Have enjoyable cup of tea or coffee at your respective lodge and later, you take part in Dian Fossey tomb hike. Dian Fossey tomb hike allows you to explore the Dian Fossey conservation legacy. She is credited for her conservation efforts to conserve mountain gorillas that the world boasts of today, conducted research on gorillas for about 18 years but unfortunately she was mysteriously murdered. Day 4: Drive to Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, you will leave Volcanoes National Park and head off to Nyungwe National Park in southwestern Rwanda. En-route, pay a visit to national museum to learn about Rwanda’s unique history, cultures or purchase some hand craft items. Arrive early enough to have a rest, lunch at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) or Gisakura Guesthouse (Basic).

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park

Enjoy your breakfast and after, you have briefing on the safety measures set for chimpanzee tracking rules and regulations. Briefing usually starts at round 7:30 am and at 8:00 am; you begin your actual trek. Expect to view chimpanzees and other primates including the black and white colobus moneys, L’Hoest monkeys, Angolan colobus monkeys, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys and birds. Dine and spend a night at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) or Gisakura Guesthouse (Basic).

Day 6: Explore genocide memorial sites in Kigali

Have an early breakfast at your preferred lodge and after, head off to Kigali to explore incredible genocide site. En-route, make a stopover at Nyanza King’s Palace. You will pay a visit to Gisozi genocide site in Kigali

Day 7: Departure

After your delicious breakfast, check out from your respective lodge ready to embark on a road trip to Kigali Airport for your flight back home. This marks the end of your 7 days Rwanda safari.
